hump day
Wednesdays are my favorite day of the week, and they always have been. When I was growing up, Wednesdays were great because they were the only day of the week when I didn’t have something to do after school. Monday was orchestra, Tuesday and Thursday were swim team, Friday was piano. Wednesday was a respite from the chaos of the rest of the week, and a break that let me lay on the couch for an extra hour eating string cheese before starting homework. As an adult, I still love Wednesdays. It’s the last in-office day of the week and it’s the closest that you can get to the weekend without feeling any anxiety about weekend plans (regardless of whether such anxiety is from having too many or too few plans). I also like it because it bifurcates the week - sun/mon/tues … wed … thurs/fri/sat. I like that it sits right in the middle, like the feeling of sitting atop a roller coaster right before it drops. Surprisingly stable; potentially a precursor to throwing up. A great place to be.
