the (mostly) inside thoughts of an overthinker

topical use only

Does anyone else ever think about how much lotion you have unintentionally consumed? I usually try to put on lotion after washing my hands to ward off scaly hands, but I feel like whenever I do, somehow I then find myself in a situation where I either am eating something with my hands (thus the lotion transfers to the food and then to my insides) or need to floss (thus getting the lotion in my mouth directly). I wonder if consuming lotion is like the eating eight spiders thing - happens to everyone, mostly unnoticed, but unsettling once you're aware of it.

The worse version of this, and where I draw the line, is putting in my contacts. Sometimes I'll wash my hands and instinctively put on lotion, then realize before the lotion has even settled in that I need to put in my contacts. So then I have to either wander around my blurry apartment waiting for the lotion to sink in and then re-wash/insert contacts later (to make myself feel like I didn't just waste the lotion) or wash my hands again immediately (wasteful but saves time). A real catch-22, if you ask me!
